FAQ'S
STARTING THE PROCESS
How can I get a free consultation or book you as a mix engineer?
You can contact me directly through the contact me section at the bottom of my websites homepage, or alternatively you can get in touch via my email @ thomashazelmusic@gmail.com.
Before we start a mix, what would you (the mixing engineer) need from me (the artist)?
I ask clients to first of all give me some background to their projects, I'm very keen to understand the person I am working with. I also would kindly ask artists to provide me with reference tracks, rough mixes or any directions they may have for their project. This ensures we begin with a clear destination in mind. I believe it is important to maintain an open dialogue: this guarantees that I am able to shape your song sonically to exactly how you hear it. I am happy to receive multitracks or printed stems, from which I will be able to build your song.
THE MIX
Can we mix in person?
Obviously it is always beneficial to work with my clients in person, I am able to facilitate mixing in person at my home studio. I do like to do preliminary work before i invite the artist to the studio though, this ensures a lot of the "dogs body" work is done before the artist arrives and means your time with me will be better spent on actual mixing instead of leveling/timing performances etc etc.
What if I am unable to make it to your studio?
If you are unable to attend a session in person, I have the facility to stream mixing sessions online through the Audio Movers app. I simply need to send a link to you, and you will be able to see and hear your project in real time as we mix.
What gear do you use?
Ofcourse at the end of the day it's how its the results that matter. But I am lucky enough to work in a hybrid fashion, taking the best from both the analogue and digital realms.
REVISIONS
What is your revision policy?
I do my initial mixing using reference tracks, and direct instructions from my clients. The first mix I send to a client will always be a mix that I am personally happy to release to radio/streaming. As is often the case, my clients may request some amendments to the mix that I send them. I allow my clients to have 3 sets of revisions after a week of receiving the initial mix. For any further amendments past this point I reserve the right to charge per hour for my time.
How will you organise mix revisions?
I will email you the mix and from there we will book a telephone/skype appointment to discuss any revisions/comments you may have until you are happy with the mix.
MASTERING
I offer a mastered version of any track I have mixed on for an additional fee - please enquire about this if interested.
DELIVERY OF PROJECT
Upon completion of the song, how are files sent?
I am able to send a finished mix/master in any format requested. Generally this will be WAV format. This will be sent via email to the provided email.
PAYMENT
How is payment made?
I take half of the quoted fee up front and the second half before delivery of the final mixes/masters. I accept direct bank transfer or alternatively if you prefer I take Paypal payments.
